Knowing what you will be expected to pay for your visit means that it should be easier to budget for routine procedures. You can then plan shared visits and reduce travel costs.
How does the Prompt Payment Discount work?
As a recently established small business we cannot carry big debts, so we offer a 10% discount on all services and fees if funds are cleared within 2 working days of invoicing. We will aim to invoice on the same day via internet invoicing. This and the use of internet banking makes it easy for everyone!
Please contact us if you would like any further information or a quote for work – we are very happy to do this. For more complex cases it may only be possible to give a price range.
Travel – This is charged at $2/km to include vehicle costs and allowance for time spent. No extra visit fees!!!
Rather than charge a visit fee on top of a mileage fee for the vehicle I have incorporated the two. I include an amount per kilometre towards the time I have spent travelling and this is significantly less than my hourly rate. I am more than happy for horses to come to me by arrangement.
If I see multiple clients in one area or at one location the travel costs will be divided between them so get your friends together for routine procedures.
My fees for an investigation are $300/hr (inc GST) and cover a thorough assessment of the history, your horse and the production of a report on my findings. It does not include travel, sedation, nerve blocks and consumables. Please read the lameness page for more information and remember I am always happy to discuss individual cases and provide an estimate.

Companion animal initial sessions– These are charged at $95 (inc GST). Travel, sedation and other treatments are additional. This includes an allowance for the needles, reading any referral history and contacting the first opinion vet when appropriate.

Foot imbalance is a major contributor to lameness in horses at all levels. As we believe in prevention being better than cure we strongly encourage the use of foot balance x-rays to assist our farriers in achieving good foot balance. This is reflected in our pricing.
$250 for 4 plates
Tetanus is a severe and life-threatening disease that horses are very susceptible to. Vaccination is very effective, has minimal side-effects and is relatively cheap. Many people rely on anti-toxin when a horse gets an injury and whilst that is very effective it assumes that as horse owners we see every small cut and get veterinary attention for it. Coming from the UK I am shocked and disappointed at the low level of tetanus vaccination in New Zealand. I have therefore decided to encourage my clients to vaccinate by offering a special deal of a free first tetanus vaccination with all dentals in August.
Tetanus vaccination (Tetanus cover is always recommended when teeth are rasped) $30 inc GST, Tetanus Antitoxin $50 inc GST
See the vaccinations page for the recommended vaccination protocol and other vaccines available.
